Kevin, HSBC UK: “I have always enjoyed long exposure, and this image was one that I was aiming for, for some time. This says "Simplicity" to me, as the softness of the sea waves and clouds in the sky have faded away, but the solidness of the rock retains all its detail, simplifying what would normally be a lot going on in this image if it was "frozen in time"...”
Jury's comment: “An amazing photo! The sea resembles mist or smoke and feels haunting. The sky appears to be moving a million miles an hour. The photo is so simple but leaves animpression on the viewer.”

Narasimha, HSBC India: “Nature is pleased with simplicity, it does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished!” My capture here intends to signify that we often miss noticing the beauty and simplicity of our surroundings, because we are too busy trying to create it!” Jury’s comment: “This image has a pure, clean feeling to it. The different tones of greencontrasted against the water droplets shows life in its purest form. The detail in this image makes you appreciate the wonders of nature. “
Kason, HSBC Hong Kong: “Simplicity can come from the sky, and also from the city. Simplicity can bring out colours, and create shadows..” Jury’s comment: “This photo fits the theme so perfectly. It’s simple but effective.”
Shuchika, HSBC India: “Raindrops falling on clear water at sunrise appears like the sun dissolving in water.” Jury’s comment: “The abstract nature and texture of this photo is enchanting. The sunlight reflecting off the water creates a mesmerising glow.”
Vinod, HSBC India: “There is beauty in simplicity. Red flowers against a clear blue sky that enhances the beauty of the flowers. Red-yellow flowers indicate fire where blue indicates calmness.” Jury’s comment: “The use of primary colours in this image really speaks to the theme of simplicity, and makes for a striking image. Really like the composition of this image.”

Yan, HSBC Egypt: “Simplicity is timeless, be it a pyramid shape or the joy of riding a bike” Jury’s comment: “A great example of how the theme can be interpreted. Great depth of field; it makes the viewer feel that the road is never ending.”
Mark, HSBC Philippines: “Going back to a beautiful place where gadgets and technology are non-essentials.” Jury’s comment: “This photo instantly makes the viewer feel calm and relaxed. The horizon feels like it goes on forever!”
Ramit, HSBC India : ”This picture made me realise how a simple sunset is one of the most beautiful things in the world.” Jury’s comments: “The shades of pink and light blue in the sunset are so striking. Love how the clouds in the sky have great movement.”
Debabrata, HSBC India: “It’s said that simplicity can be harder to achieve than complexity. To reach 17,100 feet and be in a low-oxygen atmosphere you need to think clearly and make things simple but it’s a hard task. Once you reach the end you can move mountains.” Jury’s comment: “A wonderful panoramic photo, it immerses the audience into the dramatics of the situation and the challenge that stands before them. Great photo!”
