🏆 1st place – Desmond, HSBC Hong Kong
🏆 2nd place – Andrea, HSBC Malta
🏆 3rd place – Terry, HSBC Hong Kong
Desmond Chan, HSBC Hong Kong: “Amazing sunset at Hong Kong Mount Davis seashore. The yoga master is facing the sunset (light) for a great exercise. It’s like there are a lot of great business opportunities for HSBC..” Jury’s comment: “The detail in this photo is incredible. It is only when you look closely that you spot the woman doing yoga and the boats in the background. The colours of the sky give the image a superb romantic quality.” Andrea, HSBC Malta: “For many years, traditional coloured lanterns have enchanted visitors to Hoi An – establishing a romantic trademark. The vibrant colours and lights blend in perfectly with Hoi An’s classic architecture, traditional charm and mango-coloured alleys.” Jury’s comment: “The colours and shapes in this image are wonderful! The layers of the lanterns transports the viewer to the location and makes them want to explore further. “ Terry,HSBC Hong Kong: “Light can come from the sky, and also from the city. Light can bring out colours, and create shadows..” Jury’s comment: “The colours are so striking in this image and despite the angle, it still managed to capture a huge amount of detail. The sun behind the figures gives them a sense of importance and power.” Robbie, HSBC Australia: “I captured this photo during sun down, the tide was at the right level and the lighting was just right. Measuring the tide was extremely important and this was done by using my Samsung smart watch. The timing of the sun going down was also crucial to capturing a good photo, I used to my Samsung watch to help me achieve this result once again. Bradleys head is also a great location for wedding photos and fishing. I have had a fair amount of picnics along the beach here and enjoyed every moment of it.” Jury’s comment: “The different tones of blue in this image create a sad, cold feeling to this image. It makes the audience feel like an outsider looking into a a city illuminated by light.” Kelly, HSBC UK: “The light of the sun peeking through the clouds at sunset. Budapest” Jury’s comment: “The sky in this photo looks like a water painting. Love the contrast of the industrial city against the calm of the water.” Fortune, HSBC South Africa: “I visited Iguazu falls in Nov 2017. And i caught this view whilst on the Argentina side of the falls. I was lucky with the weather, and I caught this particular photo of the reflection of the light over the water falls creating a beautiful rainbow.” Jury’s comment: “A truly magical photo. The rainbow is a perfect interpretation of the theme. This photo focuses solely on nature and how beautiful it is.” Jonathan, HSBC UK: “The view across London from the 38th floor of 8CS. It had been a day of cloud and showers with the sun only making an appearance as it was time to set – with dramatic effect!” Jury’s comment: “This photos is very dramatic indeed. The red looks angry and ominous, giving the impression something is looming over London.” Rocky, HSBC Hong Kong: “Light is warm. Light is energizing. Light allows human beings to see stunning moments on earth.” Jury’s comment: “The light in the image obscures the shapes, making it very abstract. Love how this photo captures a moment in time!” Shuchika, HSBC India “Red light crossing the boat in sunset reflection in blue water of Andaman ocean” Jury’s comment: “The position of the sun in the image creates a wonderful silhouette. The solid block of the boat against the moving tide of the sea creates a great contrast.” Himanshu, HSBC India: “From the heights of darkness in the night, let the lights shine bright in our lives.” Jury’s comment: “This photo is a great interpretation of the theme. We could not live without light and this photo really draw attention to just how much life we have surrounding us.”
